Central Division NHL Standings Nov 14 (1)

We are about a month into the hockey season, so why don’t we check out the NHL Central Division standings. Fifteen games into the season and every team but one has a .500 record or better. The last place Avalanche are 8 points behind he Predators. It is hard to believe that Barry Trotz, previously the only head coach for the Predators, was fired and replaced with the Peter Laviolette. Laviolette has a very good track record leading the Hurricanes to their first Stanley Cup and taking the 7th seed Flyers to the Stanly Cup Final in 2010 losing to the Blackhawks in 6 games. However, there is some concern that he was fired just after 3 games into he 2013-14 season. Laviolette and

Trotz, who is with the Capitals, probably needed a fresh start.
The St. Louis Blues are the hottest team right now with a 7 game winning streak that was just snapped by the first place Predators. The incredibly talented Tarasenko leads the team in goals and plus/minus. The big signing in the off-season was Peter Stastny but unfortunately he was hurt on Oct. 18th and just returned this past weekend. The big question mark is their goalie. Brian Elliot seems to be the clear starter but Jake Allen has been impressive in net with 2 consecutive shutouts. I think it was in the best interest for the Blues to not resign miller as their defensive style along with the emergence of Tarsenko and the signing of Stastny make them a strong Stanley Cup contender.
